Today, on March 1, 2010, the micro-buses going from Vanadzor to Yerevan, Spitak-Yerevan, Stepanavan-Yerevan, Tashir-Yerevan, Alaverdi-Yerevan do not work.

A final conference “Human Rights Strengthening through Capacity Building of Selected NGOs” took place in Yerevan, on 19 February 2010. It was organized by Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation-Armenia. 

On November 28, 2009 HCA Vanadzor applied to the Minister of Defence related to the health problems of soldier Grigor Hakobyan.

On February 12, 2010 “Civilitas” foundation organized a debate in Vanadzor aiming to encourage an open debate over various problems of Armenia, such as external and internal political, regional and economic problems. 

On February 3, 2010, HCA Vanadzor organized the presentation of the film “Conflict Victims” made within the framework of the project “Formation of Young Peacbuilders’ Brigade.” 

On January 29 and 30, 2010, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor organized training on “International Standards of Patients’ Rights” in Vanadzor and Ijevan.

On January 23, 2010, HCA Vanadzor organized training on “International Standards of Patients’ Rights” in “Pyunik” NGO in Gyumri. The goal of the training was to raise public awareness on patients’ rights and on possible mechanisms of their restoration.

On January 19, 2010 the court of Yerevan Center and Nork Marash sentenced editor-in-chief of “Haykakan Zhamanak” daily Nikol Pashinyan to a 7-year imprisonment. During the whole trial, there was no justification that he organized mass riots.

On January 22, 2010, taxi drivers made a protest near the administration of Lori region. The reason is the Government’s resolution according to which individual taxi drivers are obliged to execute a number of demands – the car exploitation period should not exceed ten years, the registration number should be in yellow, the cars should have a counter.

A number of NGOs have addressed a letter to the members of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe yesterday and demanded to reject accreditation of the Armenian delegation, as the delegation does not include any representative of the opposition.

Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan sentenced today the editor-in-chief of “Haykakan Zhamanak” daily Nikol Pashinyan to 7 years of imprisonment.

In November-December 2009, eight citizens applied to Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor centers in Stepanavan, Tashir, Alaverdi and Spitak cities aiming to receive free of charge legal consultation.
