Why does Sakunts Respect Tonoyan?

 There was an impression from conversations with the Chairman of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor, Artur Sakunts, that the human rights activist had a particular respect for the First Deputy Minister of Defense, Davit Tonoyan. Months ago the deputy minister seemed to be satisfied with a meeting the two of them had. Some days ago we asked Artur Sakunts: “There is an impression that you love and respect the First Deputy Minister, Davit Tonoyan and are usually pleased with the meetings with him and the statements he makes. A.S.: It is a matter of mentality. I think that the Ministry of Defense should not be headed by military officers, especially as the ministry of defense defines the policy, which is then implemented by the General Staff. Today, we tried to find out the reasons for Sakunts’ respect from the First Deputy Minister, Davit Tonoyan. Mr. Tonoyan Chairman of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor, Artur Sakunts, always speaks highly of you, as opposed to other officials at the Ministry of Defense. How do you explain this? First of all, I should say that I have met Mr. Sakunts only once; however, he had meetings with our lawyers more often.
