RPA Deputy, Karen Avagyan referred to the statements made by the chairman of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor, Artur Sakunts and stated the “the person who calls himself a human rights activist has exceeded the limits.” “In Brussels, ‘the respectable human rights activist’ spoke about one of his favorite topics, and depicted the Armenian Army in the exact way the enemy would enjoy seeing it. To understand the anti-Armenian motivesof Mr. Sakunts, it is enough to skim over the official website and the activity of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor,” said Karen Avagyan who noted that from 2009 to November 2011, HCAV used international grant money to implement a project, aimed at monitoring the military budget and developing a supervisory institute over the AF through monitoring the incidents in the army: “For that purpose he received € 51,000.” Karen Avagyan emphasized that it was not a secret that soliciting grants from international organizations is a special virtue, and Sakunts has mastered those mechanisms perfectly: “Nowadays, Sakunts and other people with no homeland are given a very mild name, ‘grant-consumers’, but there was a time when the people who received international money and promoted foreign interests in their country were called spies or traitors.” Karen Avagyan did not exclude that A. Sakunts’ grants would increase after his speech, but he also added: “Mr. Sakunts, Eat your grants as much as you want but stay away from the Armenian National Army.” He emphasized that ‘Sakuntses’ are not the ones who should represent public opinion in Armenia: “Mr. Sakunts, we would gladly wrap you and present you to Azerbaijanis or the Turks, but I am afraid they will refuse to accept such a valuable gift.” Source: www.emedia.am
