Restriction of Free Movement in Lori Region Again

On November 25, 2011, the right to  free movement by the residents of Lori Region was violated again.

Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor and the local representations of the office conducted monitoring in Vanadzor, Alaverdi, Spitak, Stepanavan, and Tashir, Towns in Lori Region.

In the Towns of Spitak and Alaverdi, the citizens were able to travel to Yerevan by minibus only in the morning; the minibuses did not operate later. In the Town of Spitak, the minibuses were escorted by the police.

In the Town of Tashir, only citizens with plane tickets or in need of urgent medical care were able to leave for Yerevan.

Unlike Spitak, Alaverdi, and Tashir, the residents of Stepanavan were deprived of an opportunity to travel to Yerevan all day.

In Lori Region, the minibuses operated all day only in Vanadzor.

Today, November 25, 2011, the Armenian National Congress is holding a rally and a march in Azatutyun Square.
