The Representatives of Stichting Armenhulp Armenie Visited Armenia

Human Rights Protection     Press releases     /2011-November-16/

N 1 Special School Dutch Foundation “Aid for Armenia” (Stichting Armenhulp Armenie) has supported the children of Armenia for many years, in particular in Lori region as a disaster zone after the earthquake of 1988. Since 2007 the foundation has started to cooperate with HCA Vanadzor.

This year, from September 11 to 26, the representatives of this foundation - Frans van Hasselt  and Theo Veeneman - visited Armenia.

During their stay in Armenia the representatives of the foundation had a number of visits together with the employees of HCA Vanadzor to Vanadzor Neuro-psychiatric Institution and two Schools in Spitak town.

Before supporting those institutions HCA Vanadzor had paid visits to make needs assessment and based on the results had proposed to support Special School #1 and Public School #5 in Spitak town and Vanadzor Neuro-psychiatric Institution.

They supported Special School #1 with bed-linen, shoes and board-games for children, heaters and table-cloths for the dining room.

They provided School #5 with food (cheese, flour, pasta, rice, chicken, etc.), 18 electric heaters and renovated the floors of the classrooms.

The third institution which got support was the Vanadzor Neuro-psychiatric Institution, where the bathrooms and toilets were separated and reconstructed.

The foundation provided support in 2007 and 2009 in Spitak and Vanadzor.
It should be noted that Stichting Armenhulp Armenie started in 2005 with Adri Witteveen, Janet Sonneveld and Theo Veeneman. The foundation was started with the idea  to help the Armenian people with food,  houses/schools and medical care.
