![]() “Qualitative Revolution in Elections” – this is a very vague notion: elections are free, independent, and fair, or fabricated. Human rights activist, Artur Sakunts expressed this opinion in a conversation with 1in.am, when commenting on Mikayel Minasyan’s words that they will register a qualitative revolution at the upcoming elections in Armenia. “If by a qualitative revolution they mean free and fair elections, then I am quite suspicious. If they mean that there is a possibility of free and fair elections with Vladmir Gasparyan, Hovik Abrahamyan, and Mikayel Minasyan, then I am excluding it,” stated the human rights activist. He added that he excludes it until the authorities gives some assessment to the violations. According to Sakunts, there is nothing forthcoming from the authorities that there will be free and fair elections. “There haven’t been any condemning statements from them regarding the presidential, parliamentary, or city council elections, political prisoners or political persecutions, so we do not have any reassurance that there will be free and fair elections,” commented A. Sakunts. He emphasized that the public has not expressed trust either for it to be considered a dramatic, qualitative change. Source: http://1in.am
