The RA Court of Appeals Rejected Gevorg Melkonyan’s Appeal

On October 26, 2011, the RA Civil Court of Appeals rejected Gevorg Melqonyan’s appeal against the decision of the RA Lori Region Court of Common Jurisdiction. 

On July 8, 2011, Lori Region Court of Common Jurisdiction, presided by Judge Varduhi Hovnanyan,  partially granted the claim of Lernapat Mayor, Vano Yeghiazaryan against the resident of the same village, Gevorg Melkonyan, to pay damages for harm to his honor, dignity, and business reputation. 

The Court had obligated Gevorg Melkonyan, to publicly apologize and to publicly renounce the defaming statements he had made earlier in the newspaper, the Zhamanak Daily,  in which he had offended, Vano Yeghiazaryan.

The Court had also decided to exact 8 000 AMD from Gevorg Melkonyan in favor of Vano Yeghiazaryan for reimbursement of state fees.

Gevorg Melkonyan appealed to the RA Court of Appeals, demanding to reverse the decision of the RA Lori Region Court of Common Jurisdiction and sent the case to the same court for re-examination.

 The RA Court of Appeals rejected the appeal and left the decision in legal force.
