The hearing of the claim by the representative of Arman Yengibaryan, who was shot dead by a police officer on June 14, 2011 at Garegin Nzhdeh Metro Station, lawyer Edmon Marukyan, against the RA Special Investigation Service was due to be held on October 26, 2011, at the Court of Common Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash Administrative Districts.
As a result of the internal investigation of Yengibaryan’s murder, SIS considered the actions of the police officerto belawful and closed the case. Subsequently, Edmon Marukyan appealed the SIS decision in court. Armtimes: Mr. Marukyan, did the hearing take place? E.M.:No, it was postponed again. It is the second time that it has been postponed. They say that the investigator has not given the materials yet, the court hasn’t received the materials either. The hearing is being postponed until the court receives the materials and studies them. The next hearing will be at 11:30, on November 1st. Armtimes: Do you think the Special Investigation Service is deliberately delaying the process of transferring the case materials to the court? E.M.: The problem is that after closing the case, SIS sent the materials to the Yerevan Police, where the case of the robbery attacks is investigated. The Court first sent a note about providing the court with the materials to SIS and then to the Yerevan Police Department. Armtimes: Do you think the court will satisfy your claim? E.M.: I think yes, because our claim is justified and the court should cancel the decision about closing the case, the criminal case should be re-examined. Source: www.armtimes.com Ani Gevorgyan
