The Participants of the Protest marched to the Police, Following Vardges Gaspari
Human Rights Protection Armed Forces
/2011-October-20/
It has been already an hour since the people protesting against the unlawful actions in the army are standing on the opposite sidewalk of the Presidential Residence. Even from a distance, one can see multitudes of police officers from different departments, holding hands in front of the Presidential Residence, not allowing the participants of the action to crossover to the Presidential Residence to continue their action in front of the residence. Only human rights activist, Artur Sakunts, President of Aspares Club, LevonBarseghyan and a few reporters were able to cross the street, but the police officers, protecting the Presidential Residence arm-in-arm, would not even allow passersby to pass Baghramyan Avenue. The protest is still continuing across from the Presidential Residence. We should note that the police officers did not pay attention to the mothers who lost their sons and started a squabble when they wanted to cross the street. About an hour ago, Vardges Gaspari was forcibly taken to the police station. This action was justified by the police by an administrative violation committed Gaspari. We just received information that the participants of the protest marched to the Kentron Police Department from the Presidential Residence to find out details about Gaspari. They will remain there until Gaspari is released. Source: www.1in.am
