Artur Sakunts: “The RA President is Directly Responsible for the Situation in the Armed Forces”

 Artur Sakunts, Chairman of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor addressed the unfortunate situation in the army on his Facebook page: “The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, President of the Republic, is responsible to appoint the Minister of Defense, as well as the Chief of Police, and the Director of National Security Service.Over the years, the public has spoken out about murders, crimes of corruption, continued violations of statutory rules in the army; they have presented specific facts, and have initiated filing criminal case reports and court cases. Nevertheless, the Supreme Commander has not made any comments or taken any steps to address these reports and it is unequivocal that he is directly responsible for the situation in the Armed Forces. No steps are taken to replace the Minister of Defense or the Chief of Staff. Overlooking this and blaming the Minister of Defense is the same as ignoring the main person responsible. And these mere complaints over the created situation are a conscious and unconscious support of the efforts just to let off steam. Source: www.7or.am
