HCAV Statement to Minister of Transport and Communication

Human Rights Protection     RIght to Movement     Announcements     /2011-April-28/

On April 28, 2011 HCA-Vanadzor sent a statement to M. Vardanyan, Minister of Transport and Communication and forwarded a copy to Aram Kocharyan, Lori Regional Council regarding the inadequate operation of transportation from Lori region to Yerevan city.

The statement implies that today at approximately 08:00a.m.-12:30p.m. Vanadzor-Yerevan minibuses didn’t operate.

MiniBus public transportation didn’t run to the cities of Alaverdi, Stepanavan, Tashir and Spitak, in the Lori region. The aforementioned facts stand to testify that the individuals in charge of regulating transportation violated the rights of citizens to freedom of movement and in fact, nothing was done to prevent the violations.

With these facts in mind, HCA-Vanadzor demands to terminate the authorizations of companies serving the Yerevan-Vanadzor, Alaverdi-Yerevan, Stepanavan-Yerevan, Spitak- Yerevan and Tashir-Yerevan lines.

It should be noted that during the months of January-April of 2011, based on observations and information disseminated by the press, the transportation lines to Yerevan didn’t function on the days the RA National Congress held a rally in Yerevan.
The statement is attached hereby.
