This morning around 10AM the owners of cars from Gyumri that have Georgian state license plates planned to travel from Gyumri to Vanadzor for participating in the protect act organized at noon against the recent changes in customs legislation of the Republic of Armenia.

The protest was organized by the Vanadzor drivers whose vehicles also have Georgian license plates.

However the police prevented the movement of vehicles from Gyumri to Vanadzor.

Drivers, however, later at 11:20 started travelling to Vanadzor but near Jajur village it appeared that the road was closed by police officers.

As the head of Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office Artur Sakunts, reported the movement of over fifty vehicles was unilaterally stopped from Vanadzor to Gyumri.

Deputy Chief of Akhuryan Police Department, lieutenant-colonel Galstyan told the gathered that he had the appropriate command to close the road and prevent movement of vehicles with Georgian license plates to travel from Gyumri to Vanadzor for participation in the protest.

To the statement of Sakunts that the latter's actions are illegal, Galstyan responded that their actions are lawful and he is ready to assume full responsibility for his actions.
