On October 12, 2010 Helsinki Citizens' Assembly-Vanadzor held a one-day working meeting in Tbilisi on police-citizen relations in the framework of the project “Training and Networking for Young Human Rights Activists” with the young activists conducting monitoring in Georgia. And on October 13, 2010 a one-day working meeting was held in the framework of the same project in Yerevan with the activists conducting monitoring in Armenia. The aim of the meetings was to discuss issues related to the monitoring and the principles of applying the monitoring tools. During the meetings the staff of the project and the monitors discussed the necessary important questions for conducting the monitoring, a precise timetable and a work-plan were made up for effective cooperation. Just after the working meeting, on October 13, with the suggestion of RA Police the monitors in Armenia had a meeting with Eduard Ghazaryan – Police general-major, head of RA police headquarters. In response to the letter sent by HCA-Vanadzor, with which the organization asked for their support in conducting monitoring in police departments, RA Police wished to meet the representatives of the organization and the monitors aiming to discuss the purpose of the monitoring and the amount of the work. As a result of the meeting organized in RA Police, the monitors from Armenia who attended a training in the framework of the project “Training and Networking for Young Human Rights Activists” got permission from the head of RA Police to visit RA Police departments in Yerevan and the towns of Vanadzor, Spitak and Goris. HCA – Vanadzor has sent a letter to the Police of Georgia, as well, for getting their support in conducting monitoring in police departments of Georgia, nevertheless, no answer was received yet. “Training and Networking for Young Human Rights Activists” project is implemented with the financial support of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) non-governmental organization.
