“After Khalafyan's death case, all the promises of the head of police as if the whole staff of Charentsavan police station was changed or changes have been made in the staff, blew up when no criminal case for the death of Derenik Gasparyan was started – says human rights devender Artur Sakunts insisting that the resignation of Alik Sargsyan, the head of police, is inevitable- at least a criminal case was brought for Khalafyan's case, which was not done in this case.

All the liability falls on Alik Sargsyan. He must not only resign but he must call to responsibility all those who abused their official liabilities.”

The relatives of Derenik Gasparyan, who died at Charentsavan school # 5, inform new details about the incident. The whole matter that they present is awful.

“From the very beginning there has been no will to help a helpless child. The only aim of the teachers was to hide their fault and cover up everything”-announces Artur Sakunts.

We have mentioned in our latest articles that his classmates came to school to take a maths exam. Staying without teacher's control two of them started to fight with Derenik which had a tragic end. But the relatives say that it was very possible to save the child if the teachers were not so indifferent and if they did not think only about saving themselves.

When Derenik falls down as a result of beating and when his classmates understand that something bad happened to him, they started to shout and make noise. Some of them ran to call the teacher. The first person who came was the cleaner of the school, but seeing she cannot help the child she takes him out. The teacher of Physical Training helped him in the yard, who tried to save the child but in vain. Seeing that the state of the child was hopeless he takes the child to hospital in a car foreseen for bread.

“The ambulance center is very near, it is about 500 meters away. It is just a question – whether or not an ambulance has been called. This is very important”-A. Sakunts, the coordinator of HCA Vanadzor attracts attention to this.

In fact, there were three people who helped the child - the cleaner, and the teachers of  Physical Training and Military preparation. Neither the class teacher nor the maths teachers were interested in the child's fate.

The maths teacher did her best to be absent from the incident. She did not even visit the hospital, where the child was taken when  he had already died. The 10-year old Derenik's relatives were informed by their neighbour and not the people from school. Three days after the accident the maths teacher Elmira Karapetyan and the class teacher gathered the schoolchildren of the fourth form and their parents and urged not to speak “here and there” but to say that Derenik was ill and it was the reason for his death.

It should also be noted that last week the relatives of the 10-year old Derenik were given the results of the forensic medical examination. As it turned out the chief doctor and the forensic doctor of Charentsavan hospital and the polyclinic, and the doctor who examined the child's body is the same person – Garnik Sahakyan.   

By the way, during the autopsy where the relatives of the child were present, expert Garnik Sahakyan announced that the child was healthy and called the relatives to make racket in order to find those who were guilty and call them to responsibility. 

Later on, he said that the child suffered from epilepsy though there is nothing written about it in the medical conclusion. The parents say that according to the results of the medical forensic examination their child reminded them
of an old man who has many different illnesses.

“The medical forensic examination is full of contradictions. This person has performed unprofessional and realized falsification”- said the human rights defender insisting that he should be called to responsibility for what he has done. The doctor told the relatives that he had nothing to be afraid of, no matter where the parents could go and complain.

“The investigator had to start a criminal case on the death. We should do our best to make them start a criminal case and one of the relatives should be involved as the assignee of the aggrieved”-said Artur Sakunts who is going to be the representative of the assignee of the aggrieved.

As we see relations play great role in covering up the case of Derenik Gasparyan. The maths teacher Elmira Karapetyan is the wife of the school director, and the chief doctor Garnik Sahakyan, according to the relatives, is the relative of the Parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan.
