Family Code was presented in the towns of Spitak and Stepanavan

On May 24, 2009, a live radio broadcast and a public discussion took place in Spitak. On May 27, a similar public discussion was held in the town of Stepanavan on “RA Law regulating family relations.”

HCA Vanadzor organized the events. The experts of the radio program and the discussions were Edmon Marukyan, member of RA Palace of Advocates and Arayik Zalyan, the lawyer of HCA Vanadzor.
  E. Marukyan presented the general provisions of the family right, the procedures for marriage and divorce, the rights and obligations of spouses, and A. Zalyan talked about the rights and obligations of parents and children, including issues related to alimony.
  During the radio program and the public discussions the citizens had the chance to ask their questions. During the discussions the experts gave clarifications on 23 questions and answered 12 questions asked during the radio program. The issues were mainly related to:
  • confirmation of the fact of parentage
• registration of marriage
• divorces
• alimony
• deprivation and restoration of parental rights
• division of the spouses property
• the fact of paternity recognition
• the procedure of child adoption, the rights of parentless children, etc.
  The discussions and the radio programs are implemented by HCA Vanadzor within the framework of the project “Capacity Building of HCA Vanadzor in the Sphere of Human Rights” with the financial support of Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation-Armenia and the Government of the Netherlands.
