How can the residents of temporary dwellings participate in the process of distributing dwellings?
Support for civil iniciatives Advocacy
/2006-September-07/
On September 5, a working discussion with the residents of temporary dwelling, representatives of local authorities and NGOs took place in the office of HCA Vanadzor. The discussion was devoted to the distribution of destroyed houses which belong to the community and opportunities for the residents of temporary dwellings to take part in that process. According to the resolution of July 21, 2006 of Vanadzor avagani (counselors), the destroyed houses will be given to those citizens who are ready to renovate them on their own expenses. According to a member of avagani Karen Adamyan this is a real chance for the residents of temporary dwellings to obtain houses. He thinks that the residents can participate in the drafting of the procedure of apartment allocation and be involved in the distribution according to the procedure. Karen Adamyan thinks that the residents can succeed only if they are united. The procedure of distributing the destroyed apartment is currently being worked out by the municipality of Vanadzor. The residents of temporary dwellings haven’t had the opportunity to take part in working out the procedure together with the employees of the municipality. Gayane Kalantaryan, member of avagani proposes not to approve the procedure drafted by the municipality, but demand a general discussion. The residents of temporary dwellings are willing to participate in the process of working out the procedure of the apartment distribution. They agreed to work out the procedure with support of HCA Vanadzor before the next session of avagani, which is on September 16. HCA Vanadzor and the residents will take part in the session of avagani where the procedure in written form will be presented
