Isolated Civilization

Support for civil iniciatives     Advocacy     /2006-May-25/

HCA Vanadzor has started to implement a project which is directed to the protection of interests of people living in small temporary dwellings. Within the framework of the project it is foreseen to identify and publicize the problems of residents of small temporary dwellings with their participation.

It is about 20 years that citizens found themselves in these dwellings, their problems are not paid attention to and no steps are taken to solve them.
The part of the town where the temporary dwellings are situated is isolated and Vanadzor residents treat them otherwise. People connect prostitution, narcotism, criminal actions, spreading and development of other negative phenomena with them.
Society does not have the real picture on the problems of the residents of small temporary dwellings. By the project it is foreseen:
• to hold public discussions with the participation of residents of temporary dwellings, citizens, representatives of NGOs and state structures
• to organize live TV programs with the participation of residents of temporary dwellings, citizens, representatives of NGOs and state structures
• to make and show social advertisements on the problems of the temporary dwellings and their residents
• to print and spread posters on the problems of the temporary dwellings and their residents
• to publish and disseminate a booklet on the problems of the temporary dwellings and their residents
Free legal consultation will be provided for protecting the interests of residents of temporary dwellings in order to manifest initiation.
The project is implemented with the support of World Bank Yerevan Office and the OSI Assistance Foundation (“OSIAF”) for the period of April 1, 2006 to September 30, 2006 .
Those citizens and organization who are interested in this project can apply to HCA Vandzor office.
